[ARCHIVED] Citizen's Forum Cancelled

cancelled

Due to social distancing and the President’s request to have no more than 10 people in a space, the Citizen’s Forum at the Chisago County Board of Commissioners meetings is cancelled starting on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 and into the foreseeable future at the direction of the County Board Chair. Additionally, County Board Chair Montzka has issued Resolution 20/0317 -- Declaration of a Local Emergency in Chisago County.

We are encouraging the public to stay informed of the County Board proceedings by watching the Live Broadcast of the meeting as it is occurring online at in your own private setting. To watch the County Board Meetings simply click on the link to: Media Center and look in ’Channels’ for County Board of Commissioner Meeting. NOTE: This Channel will only be listed if we are broadcasting a Live Video of a scheduled Chisago County Board of Commissioners Meeting.

At the March 18th, 2020 Chisago County Board of Commissioners Meeting, the Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 to temporarily suspend the current format of the ‘Citizen’s Forum’ at County Board Meetings, consisting of an in-person, oral forum, and instead institute a written forum until further notice. This change is due to the increasing public health threat related to the COVID-19 virus, and the necessity of keeping and maintaining social distancing, balanced against the desire of the Board to provide an opportunity for the public to express ideas, issues or concerns in these extremely difficult and unprecedented times.

Update:  How to Participate in the Citizen’s Forum

All citizens are welcome to submit a ‘Citizen Forum’ comment, statement, question or proposal using our Citizen Forum Online Form, send thru the U.S. Post Office, or email to the County Administrator at least two (2) hours prior to the start of the scheduled County Board meetings, so that the letter or e-mail may be copied and distributed to the Chisago County Board of Commissioners. The County Commissioners may choose to read individual letters or parts of letters aloud after recognizing the author.

It is requested that you provide your full name and address, including commissioner’s district, if known. All the letters or emails should be written to make a comment, statement, question or proposal to the County Board. All letters shall be directed to the Board as a whole, and not to individual commissioners. All letters should be written in a respectful manner and or tone and refrain from the use of profanity.

Send your comment, statement, question or proposal to County Administrator Chase Burnham using our Citizen Forum Online Form, send thru the U.S. Post Office, or Email Chase Burnham.
