[ARCHIVED] Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District Accepting Applications

The Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District (LID) is accepting candidate applications for the election of an Area 1 Director position and an Area 6 At Large Director position.

Election candidate applicants must be:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • own real property or be a buyer under contract for deed of property within the area they represent.

The term of Area 1 and Area 6 At Large is as follows:

  • February 6, 2023 and runs until February 2027.

The geographical areas are described as follows:

Area 1: Bound on the south by Highway 8, to the west by County Road 20, and includes the area to the northeast border of the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District.  Little Lake, North Center Lake, and Pioneer Lake are included in this area. 

Area 6 At Large: At Large Directors must be owners of real property within the district boundaries or be a buyer under contract for deed of property within the district.

The mission of the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District is to restore, preserve, protect, and enhance the water resources of the Chisago Lakes Chain of Lakes Watershed.

The LID Board of Directors meet on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Chisago County Government Center.  If that date conflicts with a major holiday, the meeting will convene on the following Monday.

To apply, please use our Online Form for Election/Appointment to Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District (LID) Board of Directors. Applications must be submitted by December 31, 2022. Applications received after this deadline will not be accepted.

An election for the position will take place between the dates of January 6, 2023, and February 6, 2023.  Ballots are accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023.  Absentee ballots will be available for those interested.

Candidates for the open Board of Director positions are invited to attend the January 6, 2023 LID Board meeting to discuss their interest and qualifications for the position.
