Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District (LID) Annual Meeting
Election of one Area 1 Board of Directors position and
Election of one Area 6 At Large Board of Directors position.

The Annual Meeting of the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District (LID) will be Monday, February 6, 2023 at 6:30 p.m.  The meeting will be a combination of a virtual and in-person meeting.  The in-person meeting will be in Conference Room 150B, lowest level, at the Chisago County Government Center, 313 North Main Street, Center City.  Prior to the meeting, the online address for the virtual meeting will be posted on the LID Page of the Chisago County Website.

The mission of the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District is to restore, preserve, protect and enhance the water resources of the Chisago Lakes Chain of Lakes Watershed.  The Annual Meeting will include a presentation showcasing 2022 projects and activities.

In addition, from January 6, 2023 through February 6, 2023 there will be an election for one Area 1 Board of Directors position and one Area 6 At Large Board of Directors position.  Election results will be presented at the Annual Meeting.  A Map showing the LID Board Member Areas (PDF) can be found on the Chisago County Website.

The Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District solicited applications for Area 1 and Area 6 Board of Directors positions.  Publication and notice of candidate filing opportunities occurred in the December 2022 issues of the Chisago County Press.  The notice was distributed among area lake associations and posted on the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District Page on the Chisago County Website. The candidate application deadline for Area 1 and Area 6 Board of Directors positions expired on December 30, 2022.  

Area 1 Board of Directors Election
Bounded on south by Highway 8, to the west by County Road 20 and includes the area to the northeast border of the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District.  Little, North Center and Pioneer Lakes are included in this area. Applicant: Mike Mergens 

Area 6 at Large Board of Directors Election
At Large must be owners of real property within the district boundaries or be a buyer under contract for deed of property in the district. Applicant: Gary Schmacher

Absentee and In-Person Voting:
Absentee ballots are available to any eligible voter requesting one.  Absentee ballots can be requested online by completing and submitting our Online Absentee Ballot Request Form 2023. Eligible voters include all of the property owners residing in the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District.  Each property owner, including owners of more than one property, is entitled to one vote.   Property owner’s names must be identified on Chisago County property tax records as owners of property.  The list of property owners residing in the District will be updated from the Chisago County records within 30 days of an election.   If the property is owned by a Trust or other entity, documentation of Individual Trustees or owners must be provided prior to receiving a ballot and voting.

Absentee ballots must be delivered to the Chisago County Government Center outdoor main entrance drop box or brought indoors to the Environmental Services Office at 313 North Main Street – Suite 240, Center City, MN 55012 by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, February 6, the day of the Annual Meeting.  Absentee ballots received after 4:30 p.m. are void and will not be counted.  In order to receive and return an absentee ballot by U.S. mail it is recommended your request for a ballot be received no later than Monday, January 23, 2023.  Absentee ballots may be returned in person up to 4:30 p.m. on the day of the election.

In person voting will take place Monday, February 6, 2023 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.   To vote in person proceed to the Environmental Services Office at 313 North Main Street – Suite 240, Center City, MN 55012.  No voting will take place during the Annual Meeting which starts at 6:30 p.m.
