April 11, 2023
On Tuesday April 11, 2023 at approximately 6:10 p.m. the Chisago County Emergency Communications Center began receiving 911 calls regarding a male who had fallen into the St. Croix River.
Initial information indicated an 18 year old resident of Wisconsin was within Interstate State Park in Taylors Falls near a rock ledge overlooking the St. Croix River. The male lost his footing and fell off a cliff and ultimately landed in the waters of the St. Croix.
An extensive rescue effort was launched consisting of multiple area agencies. Search efforts were unsuccessful and paused at nightfall. The search will resume in the morning.
We ask that the general public not search on or near the water at this time. The flow rate of the river, along with debris typically seen in the spring, has made for dangerous search conditions.
Updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
