Posted on: December 19, 2018

[ARCHIVED] Chisago County Sheriff's Office is Looking for YOU!!

We are now taking applications for our Volunteer Reserve Deputy Program.

Reserve Deputies come from all backgrounds, many also work a Monday thru Friday career job and work the occasional Sheriff's Office event on a weekend.

The objective of the Chisago County Sheriff's Office Reserve Deputy Program is to augment and support Chisago County Sheriff's Deputies in their performance and duties to enhance public protection and service while garnering citizen support and involvement.

A Reserve Deputy is a civilian who is offered unique opportunities for both volunteer service or preparing for policing as a profession. If you or someone you know is considering a career in law enforcement, this combination of training and experience can be invaluable in achieving those goals. If you are established in another career with no plans to become a police officer, you will receive the satisfaction of positively contributing to the safety and security of the Chisago County community.

The Reserve Deputy provides sworn deputies resources to augment and support the Sheriff's Office and the Chisago County community. The program supplements regular officers on patrol and helps with major community events. Reserve Deputies are volunteers who receive no monetary compensation for their service. In order to maintain their active reserve status, a Chisago County Sheriff's Office Reserve Deputy must volunteer service for a minimum of 16 special events per year as well as consistent service by providing patrol and attending training.

The Reserve Deputies epitomize the service ethic and give many hours to the community each year. Experienced Reserve Deputies, who complete the Reserve Training Program, are permitted to patrol solo while supporting the Sheriff's Office mission and providing more resources to combat crime.

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office provides Reserve Deputies with most of their equipment and all the required training at no charge. Reserve Deputies receive a range of ongoing training including crime scene preservation dealing with stressful situations, defensive situations, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations, firearms, legal updates, search and seizure, traffic control and use of force.
